FAQ:

IS THIS REAL?

Yes.

*WTF DOES EARLY ACCESS EVEN MEAN?

It means that the hardware is 100% done, tested, and validated.  The software however is not finished.  The (**) features will all be implemented by the end of 'Early Access' at which point full manufacturing will begin and the synth officially 'released'

HOW LONG WILL EARLY ACCESS LAST?

Until we have implemented all of the above features.   Realistically probably the rest of 2026.

IS THIS COMING OUT IN JUNE 2026 OR "JUNE 2026"?

As of April 2026, all components and accessories are either in our possession, in transit, or being manufactured.  We fully expect the last critical components to be delivered to our workshop in Brooklyn the month of May at the latest.  Final assembly is quick, so, yes, baring acts of god, we expect an early June release.  Tbh, we're actually shooting for a May release, but we know things don't always go according to plan, so our official ship date is June.  

WHAT IS THE CURRENT STATUS OF THE SOFTWARE?

It is currently running generally the same OS as the original Recursion Studio.  It is currently completely compatible with all original RS content, and can render it at any of the listed resolution/framerate combinations.  These resolutions are the dimensions of the internal buffers, and control the general fidelity of the system, not just the final output resolution which depends on your display.  At 4k, existing RS content looks distressingly crisp & smooth even on 1080p displays :D There are also several new instruments available in somewhat experimental states.   as well as over a hundered new modules/effects/generators/etc

WILL THE PRICE INCREASE ON 1.0 RELEASE?

Yes, retail price will increase to $1750 when the synth reaches 1.0

CAN IT RUN DOOM?

If you personally buy 20 of them, yes.  

WHAT ABOUT THE ORIGINAL RECURSION STUDIO?

The original Recursion Studio will continue to be on sale as long as there is demand, and will be supported and developed in concert with the new model.  Although as of April 2026 we are nearly out of stock. But we will have more around the same time the new synth launches.
Both it and the new synth run the exact same operating system.   Any major updates to the operating system that the original synth are capable of handling will be available there as well.  In particular, the new UI, NDI, DMX, and OSC are all explicitly slated to be available on the original synth.

WILL YOU HAVE A TRADE IN PLAN?

Possibly, we're seriously thinking about it, but we're not yet 100% sure about the economic practicality of this both from our side and yours. Basically we have to see how sales of the original Recursion Studio HD go over the next 6 months or so and use that to figure out if it makes sense, and what trade ins would be priced at .  But we can say that this would apply retroactively to people that have purchased both synths at any point in time .  

DO YOU SHIP INTERNATIONALLY?

Yes! Some countries will have additional fees such as VAT added on checkout, and that should be it. However please note that as of April 2026, we (mostly) only have US power supplies in stock. This will change at some point, but for the moment, you may need to find a power adapter.
